The Friends of the Company of Four is an organisation that supports the Company of Four, both financially by making regular donations to their funds and by publicity to and by the members who pay £7.50 per person per year to become an official ‘Friend’
There are in excess of 200 members who greatly support the Company of Four by:
*purchasing tickets for the various stage shows
*spreading the word about the shows performed
*purchasing raffle tickets at the shows
*donating raffle prizes
In return for these invaluable contributions, the Friends are given:
*priority booking of theatre seats
*complimentary programme at the various shows or discount on seat prices
*invitation to ‘Friends evenings’
*invitation to coach outings
In recent months, the Friends have also organised outings and holidays. Here are some reports from the most recent:
2009 Events Have Been
*Peterborough Ice Show
*Tiptree and Southend
*Warners - Sinah Warren, Hayling Island for 4-day holiday
*London Shaftesbury Theatre to see Hairspray
*Oulton Broad and Gorleston Pavilion Theatre for musical variety show
TIPTREE & SOUTHEND – this time we travelled to Essex with the first stop at Tiptree Jams for refreshments and to look around the shop + museum. Then onto Southend for lunch, shopping, sight seeing and tea
WARNERS - The theme for the holiday break at Sinah Warren character hotel Hayling Island was the Tremeloes who performed on the Saturday. On the Friday we were entertained by ‘Union Gap’ and on Sunday by the resident entertainment team. Sunday morning saw the majority of the Friends group playing Bowls.
On the way back home, we stopped at Brighton for a couple of hours and then had an enjoyable journey home to Suffolk
HAIRSPRAY – a wonderful day out in the capital city where we had time for shopping, sight-seeing and lunch before attending the matinee performance of Hairspray. This trip attracted some young members of Company of Four who helped make this a very successful venture.
OULTON BROAD & GORLESTON – relatively short journey to Oulton Broad where some members stayed in the main resort whilst the remainder went to The Waveney Rush Industry complex to see baskets, matting, etc., made by a small dedicated labour force. Lunch at Oulton Broad, then onto Gorleston Pavilion Theatre where we took our places in the reserved seating areas. The show was very enjoyable with entertainment by the company of dancers / vocalists, the master of ceremonies and comedian. After the show we went up the coast to Gt Yarmouth for tea / refreshments.
FUND RAISING – the forthcoming pantomime production of Cinderella will see the Friends organising a Grand Draw where draw tickets will be sold at all performances. The actual draw will take place during the interval of the last performance
